Vermillion : South Dakota

Vermillion is located in the southeastern corner of South Dakota in Clay County.  The city is located atop a bluff along the Missouri National Recreational River.  State Highways 50 and 19,  and I-29 run across Vermillion. Located at the confluence of Vermillion and Missouri Rivers, the city was named after the community of the same name or from the Sioux name, WASE WAKPALA (wa sa wak pa'la) meaning "red stream”.
